Kirk Miller is B. F. Fackenthal, Jr. Professor of Biology at Franklin and Marshall College. At F&M, he teaches Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Vertebrate Anatomy, and Comparative Physiology. He is a winner of the Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching. At F&M, he has served as Department Chair, and on the Professional Standards, Educational Policy, and Pre-Healing Arts committees.
Dr. Miller is a comparative physiologist and biostatistician with a principle interest in how the embryonic environment affects embryonic growth and neonatal fitness. He is a member of the Editorial Board for Copeia, the journal of the American Society of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists, and he has served as Associate Editor of American Zoologist, the journal of the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology. He is the author of over 25 publications and has sponsored over 30 undergraduate research projects.
Dr. Miller is part of a team at Franklin & Marshall College that is creating a course that will involve undergraduates in the research performed under the auspices of the Central Pennsylvania Center of Excellence for Research on Pregnancy Outcomes.
Dr. Miller received his B.A. from Antioch College with majors in Biology and Philosophy, his M.S. in Zoology from Colorado State University, and his Ph.D. in Zoology from the University of Oklahoma. He has received training in epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health.
